Complete List of Fortune 500/1000 Companies 1955-2008

This is a complete list of the Fortune 500 companies from 1955 through 2005 and Fortune 1000 companies for 2006 through 2008 (28,500 records). It is a very interesting dataset that shows the rise and fall of many large and powerful companies. Each record contains the following fields:
  • Year
  • Rank on the Fortune 500/1000 list
  • Name of the Company
  • Revenue for that year (in millions)
  • Profit for that year (in millions)
The file is in the highly portable CSV format, so it can be easily opened and manipulated in Excel or other spreadsheets, or directly imported into any database.

The presentation of data from the past years gives a great insight of how companies have performed .It is of great use in segementing and targeting different companies in terms of business perspective. Data in excel form is of great use .By using tools like filters and pivot tables the data can be easily modified into required formats

Fortune 500 Data

Fortune 500 is good data to work with. I find that the Fortune 1000 and the INC 500/1000 are also equally valuable.
